About the Healthcare Career Pathway
Healthcare is one of the fastest-growing careers in Alaska, the nation and the world. Knowledgeable, compassionate healthcare professionals are in high demand everywhere. Healthcare providers work with people of all ages. They often work in teams and in settings that include hospitals, clinics, home healthcare, long-term care and assisting living facilities.

ATC Programs in this Career Pathway include:

Certified Nurse's Aide (CNA)
Personal Care Attendant(PCA)
Introduction to Health Careers
Medical Terminology
Health Care Occupations - Full-time Program (all above courses of study)

Industry/State Certification:

ATC courses meet the requirements of the State of Alaska for Certification as a Certified Nurse's Aid, Personal Care Attendant, or Emergency Trauma Technician First Responder. The CPR/First Aid class meets the standards of the American Red Cross.

College Credit

ATC courses are aligned with the University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF) certificate and degree programs, and are available for college dual credit.

ATC students in Health Care Occupations courses may dual-enroll for UAF credit.

Graduates of the ATC CNA and PCA courses qualify for a UAF Occupational Endorsement.

They can take additional university course work and earn a Pre-Nursing Certificate, or an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing.

ATC Health Care Occupations students will learn:

  • Workplace safety and Red Cross First Aid
  • Patient Safety and rights
  • Health team roles and communication
  • Community work rotation
